Texas Teen, 17, Has The Longest Legs In The World: "I Stopped Caring What People Thought Of Me"

Maci Currin stands tall at 6 feet 10 inches, and her legs measure in at 4 feet 5 inches long.

17-year-old Maci Currin is part of the brand new Guinness World Records 2021 book for her incredibly long legs. The Texas teen has been confirmed as having the world’s longest legs (female) and the longest legs on a teenager, according to Guinness World Records. While Currin stands tall at 6 feet 10 inches, her legs make up 60 percent of her total height! They measure in at about 4 feet 5 inches. Her left leg measures 135.267 cm (53.255 in), while her right leg measures 134.3 cm (52.874 in). Currin has totally embraced her uniqueness and doesn't mind standing out in a crowd. "I was never bullied for my legs... I was bullied because I was taller than everyone," she shared. "Around sophomore year I just stopped caring what people thought of me and once I just stopped caring I wasn't affected by anything," she added.

According to Yahoo! News , the teen's incredible 53-inch limbs smashed the previous record of 52.2 inches held by Ekaterina Lisina of Russia. Currin's mother Trish, 55, told Barcroft TV , "I realized that she was taller than the average kid at about 18 months when she was already 2 feet 11 inches. "She was at a Mother's Day Out and I went to pick her up and she was already a head above the other children. There's a picture of her standing next to another little girl and she looked like she was two years older. There were four or five years that she grew like five inches in a year, which is a lot. She has always had long legs. I used to think I had long legs but not anymore."

Genetics seems to have some role in the aspiring model's unique physique. According to That's Life , while mom Trish is only 5 feet 7 inches, her father Cameron, 52, is 6 feet 5 inches, and her brother Jacob, 17, is 6 feet 3 inches. Currin did admit there are some annoying hindrances she has to deal with having long limbs. She said, "There are definitely negatives to having such long legs: hitting your head walking through doors, getting into cars, trying to find clothes that fit. I don't wear certain things like jeans because I can never find any that fit me. I do like to go to this one store in Colorado and they have extra-long yoga pants that I get." Another thing she finds annoying is people taking pictures of her without permission. She added, "Also when I go to the mall, there's just a bunch of people staring at me. There's people that will get their phone out and try to take a picture without asking. I kind of just like stare at them like, 'Are you serious?'"

There are upsides too though. She shared, "When you're in a crowd and you're with friends and can't find them, you can just look over everyone and be like, 'There she is.' And then in sports, it’s valuable, being tall, it’s great for blocking."  At the time of that interview, Currin’s record was yet to be officially verified by the Guinness Book of World Records. But records didn't matter to her mom Trish who believes that her daughter's height is secondary to who she is on the inside. Trish revealed, "She once said to me: 'Mom, I hang out with everybody.' She goes, 'I am good with the popular girls, I am good with the not so popular girls. I just hang out with whoever I want to hang out with.' She is very good about being comfortable in her own skin. And I probably struggle more than she does with accepting the fact that people are always staring at her and trying to take pictures of her or being rude to her. She is a pretty strong girl.”
